To fulfil the goal, qualitative research was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews (n = 8 for companies, n = 13 for consumers), also available secondary data were explored. The obtained data were assessed with use of content analysis and conclusions were drawn. Among the main recommen-dations is that companies devote themselves to educating their customers, as a lack of information has a significant negative impact on consumer behavior.

Protection of intellectual property rights in the fashion industry
Duong, Erik ; Holcová, Irena (advisor) ; Žikovská, Petra (referee)
This thesis focuses on the area of intellectual property law in the fashion industry. The main objective of this thesis is to highlight the pressing issues in the fashion industry, to examine the various forms of intellectual property protection applicable in the fashion industry. Following the analysis, an assessment of the impact of fast fashion on the fashion industry is made. The thesis addresses the complex environment of the fashion industry, which is characterised by fast global supply chains and rapid production cycles. However, these dynamics raise significant challenges and unfavourable practices that lack robust legal safeguards. The main problem is the proliferation of low-cost production driven by fast-fashion brands, leading to overconsumption, environmental degradation and labour exploitation. This lack of effective legal measures increases the burden faced by affected communities and contributes to the growing problem of textile waste. In addition, the practices of fast fashion brands, which often copy the designs of both renowned and lesser-known designers, undermine the competitiveness of indigenous creators in the sector. This interaction fosters an environment that favours fast fashion at the expense of sustainable and ethical fashion. The thesis is divided into eight chapters....

The qualitative research method was used for the research, thanks to which it is possible to look more deeply and better analyse the feelings and attitudes of the respondents.

Fashion as a Differend
Schambergerová, Lucie ; Fišerová, Michaela (advisor) ; Charvát, Martin (referee)
The work called Fashion as a Differend presents the demands of critics of fashion and shows that they are in decomposition with its definition as defined by J. - F. Lyotard in the context of a postmodern condition. It argues that discourse overriding the demands of fashion critics is asymetrical with discourse within which fashion is defined. It turns out that there is a logical paradox with regard to the essence of fashion, which is transience or rapid change (at least as fast a change in society) and the floating demand for slowing down, stability and other criticisms that are linked to its transformation.
Pre-loved: vintage shops as an alternative to fast fashion
Borisova, Varvara ; Abu Ghosh, Yasar (advisor) ; Sosna, Daniel (referee)
"Pre-loved: vintage shops as an alternative to fast fashion" Mgr. Varvara Borisova Supervisor: Mgr. Yasar Abu Ghosh, Ph.D. Abstract Thrifting has long been perceived as a matter of nonconformists, eccentric artists, and people with limited budgets. However, the consumerist philosophy of so-called fast fashion which is driven by the ever-changing trends and the impact of the fashion industry on environment and global labor market has become a reason for many customers to find a greener and more ethical way to supply their wardrobes. While some of us gave up shopping at all, fashion gurus turned their attention to secondhand clothes: thrift shops changed to vintage boutiques and used garments became known as "pre-loved". This thesis aims to analyze practices which owners of Czech secondhand and vintage shops use to create value, understand the obsession by things from the 20th century and focus on the role of such stores in the development of sustainable fashion in the Czech Republic. Key words: vintage, thrift, theory of value, fast fashion, nostalgia, sustainability, material culture
